Artificial Turf Cost 2026: $5,000–$10,000 for 500 Sq Ft

One residential lawn, about 500 square feet, the turf, the base, and the labor in one price, often clusters around $5,000–$10,000. A 200-square-foot lawn costs less. A 1,000-square-foot lawn costs more.

Planning range

One residential artificial turf lawn at a single-family yard, about 500 square feet, the turf, the base, and the labor in one price, with a yard the crew can reach. A 200-square-foot lawn, a 750-square-foot lawn, a 1,000-square-foot lawn, a per-square-foot rate, turf only, labor alone, grass removal the price left out, infill the price left out, a sod lawn, a landscaping project, and a retaining wall are separate.

Typical planning range $5,000 to $10,000. National spread $1,200 to $25,000.

DIY or hire
Hire the lawn. A rinse the owner can do is the owner's part. A base, a seam, and a lawn that has to drain are where a weekend becomes the job.
Repair or replace
Lay the turf when the grade can take a base and the yard is staying. Replace the face when the turf has failed. Price sod, landscaping, or a retaining wall on its own page.

One residential artificial turf lawn at a US single-family yard — about 500 square feet, the turf, the base, and the labor in one price, with a yard the crew can reach — often clusters around $5,000–$10,000. That is the typical artificial turf cost. Artificial turf prices, in that scope, are that lawn, not a roll on the drive and not a yard of new beds. The cost of artificial turf, when the base and the labor are in the price, is the same band. How much artificial turf costs, for that same lawn, is the same band. Artificial turf cost per square foot, for that same lawn, is $10–$20. A lawn about 200 square feet is $1,200–$4,000. A lawn about 750 square feet is $7,500–$15,000. A lawn about 1,000 square feet is $10,000–$20,000. The wider national spread, about $1,200–$25,000, covers that 200-square-foot lawn at $6 a square foot at the low end and a lawn about 1,000 square feet at $25 a square foot at the high end. A natural lawn in place of this face is the sod guide. The beds and the mulch around the lawn are the landscaping guide. A wall that holds the slope beside the lawn is the retaining wall guide. These are typical planning ranges, not a survey and not a quote.

This page is one lawn at one yard. A bid may call it artificial turf cost, artificial turf prices, the cost of artificial turf, how much artificial turf costs, or artificial turf cost per square foot. The base and the labor are in the price when the number is the typical band. It is not a sod lawn, which is the sod guide. It is not a landscaping project, which is the landscaping guide. It is not a retaining wall, which is the retaining wall guide. A roll the owner lays on soil that is already a base is a smaller product. This page does not price it as the typical band.

The price of the job is the lawn the crew lays and the hour that puts the labor in the price. The lawn is the first cut. Whether the base and the labor are already in the price is the second. A 200-square-foot lawn, a standard lawn, a 750-square-foot lawn, and a 1,000-square-foot lawn are ways to buy one lawn. The lawn replaces a different lawn. It is not a second lawn under a price you already have.

The rows below are ways to read one job. They are not added together. The job table is one lawn at a yard the crew can reach. The typical band is one lawn about 500 square feet, base and labor in: that row in full. A 200-square-foot lawn replaces that rate from $1,200 to $4,000. A 750-square-foot lawn replaces it from $7,500 to $15,000. A 1,000-square-foot lawn replaces it from $10,000 to $20,000. Use a rate row only for a line the lawn row does not include. A rate the proposal already includes is not a second line.

JobTypical cost
About 200 square feet$1,200–$4,000
Standard lawn, about 500 square feet$5,000–$10,000
About 750 square feet$7,500–$15,000
About 1,000 square feet$10,000–$20,000
Rate or added lineTypical planning range
Per square foot, installed$10–$20
Turf only, per square foot$2–$8
Labor, per square foot$4–$9
Grass removal, if the lawn left it out, per square foot$1–$2.75
Infill, if the lawn left it out, per square foot$0.30–$1.75

The job rows replace one another. Do not add a 750-square-foot price on top of a standard-lawn price for the same lawn. The rate row is a line the lawn left out, or another reading of the same lawn. A rate the proposal already includes is not the rate row on top. Removal the bid already folded into $5,000–$10,000 is not the removal row on top.

A standard lawn — about 500 square feet, the base and the labor in one price — is typically $5,000–$10,000. The floor of the row is the typical floor. The top of the row is the typical top. The whole row is the typical band. Five thousand is 500 square feet at $10. Ten thousand is 500 square feet at $20. Five thousand can be this row at its floor or 200 square feet at $25. Ten thousand can be this row at its top, a 1,000-square-foot lawn at $10, or 500 square feet at $20. Ask which reading the bid is.

A lawn about 200 square feet — not the common lawn — is typically $1,200–$4,000. The overlap with the typical band is none. One thousand two hundred is the wider floor and the floor of this row. Two thousand is 200 square feet at $10. Four thousand is the top of this row and $1,000 under the typical floor. The whole row sits under the typical band and inside the wider spread. One thousand two hundred can be this row at its floor, 200 square feet at $6. It is not the typical band with a discount. Four thousand can be this row at its top, 200 square feet at $20. Do not add the standard-lawn row under a 200-square-foot price for the same trip.

A lawn about 750 square feet is typically $7,500–$15,000. The overlap with the typical band is $7,500–$10,000. Seven thousand five hundred is $2,500 above the typical floor and the floor of this row. Ten thousand is the typical top and inside this row. Fifteen thousand is $5,000 past the typical top, $10,000 under the wider top, and the top of this row. From $7,500–$10,000 the job is inside the typical band and inside this row. From $10,000–$15,000 the job has left the typical band and stays inside the wider spread. Seven thousand five hundred can be this row at its floor or 750 square feet at $10. Fifteen thousand can be this row at its top or 750 square feet at $20. A standard-lawn price does not get this row on top.

A lawn about 1,000 square feet is typically $10,000–$20,000. The overlap with the typical band is $10,000. Ten thousand is the typical top and the floor of this row. Twenty thousand is $10,000 past the typical top, $5,000 under the wider top, and the top of this row. From $10,000 the job is at the typical top. From $10,000–$20,000 the job has left the typical band except at $10,000, and it stays inside the wider spread. Ten thousand can be this row at its floor or a standard lawn at the typical top. Twenty thousand can be this row at its top or 1,000 square feet at $20. A standard-lawn price does not get this row on top. A straightforward 500-square-foot lawn can still be the typical band when the bid is that lawn, not this row with a second name.

Artificial turf cost

Artificial turf cost is this page when the crew is at the yard and the base and the labor are in the price. Artificial turf costs, for that lawn, are the same price. A bid that says artificial turf cost and a bid that says the cost of artificial turf are the same dollars when the yard, the lawn, and the labor match. The typical band, $5,000–$10,000, is one standard lawn. It is not a second lawn stacked on a face you already have.

The lawn is often a short run of a day or two. The base is inside the lawn price. It is not a second bill on a number that was already the lawn. A rate of $10–$20 a square foot is a way to read the same lawn. Five hundred square feet at $10 is $5,000, the typical floor. Five hundred square feet at $20 is $10,000, the typical top. The rate and the lump sum are two readings of one lawn. They are not added. A bid that already names $5,000–$10,000 does not get the square feet on top.

A low all-in foot is $6. Two hundred square feet at $6 is $1,200, the wider floor. Five hundred square feet at $6 is $3,000, which is $1,800 above the wider floor and $2,000 under the typical floor. One thousand square feet at $6 is $6,000, inside the typical band, $1,000 above the typical floor, and $4,000 under the typical top. The $6 foot and the lump sum are two readings of one lawn. They are not added.

A premium foot is $25. Five hundred square feet at $25 is $12,500, which is $2,500 past the typical top, inside the 750-square-foot row, and $12,500 under the wider top. One thousand square feet at $25 is $25,000, the wider top. The premium foot and the lump sum are two readings of one lawn. They are not added. A bid that already names $5,000–$10,000 does not get $25 on top.

Artificial turf prices

Artificial turf prices are the lawn price, not the price of one roll. For one standard lawn, that cost is $5,000–$10,000. A bid that prices the crew and a bid that prices a roll the owner lays on a finished base are not the same number. Keep the base and the labor in the number when a crew is who lays the lawn.

Turf only is $2–$8 a square foot. On the 500 square feet of a common face, that reading is $1,000–$4,000. One thousand is $200 under the wider floor. Four thousand is the top of the 200-square-foot row, $2,800 above the wider floor, and $1,000 under the typical floor. From $1,000–$1,200 the grass sits under the wider spread except at $1,200. From $1,200–$4,000 the grass is inside the wider spread and under the typical band. It is another reading of the same face, not a second lawn, and it is the grass without the labor. One thousand can be this reading at its floor. Four thousand can be this reading at its top. A standard-lawn price does not get the turf-only row on top.

Polypropylene, turf only, is $2–$5 a square foot. On 500 square feet, that reading is $1,000–$2,500. The overlap with the turf-only row is the whole reading. One thousand is the floor of both readings and $200 under the wider floor. Two thousand five hundred is $1,300 above the wider floor, $2,500 under the typical floor, and the top of this reading. From $1,000–$1,200 the grass sits under the wider spread except at $1,200. From $1,200–$2,500 the grass is inside the wider spread and under the typical band. One thousand can be this reading at its floor or turf only at its floor. Two thousand five hundred can be this reading at its top. A turf-only price does not get the polypropylene row on top.

Polyethylene, turf only, is $2–$7 a square foot. On that same 500 square feet, the reading is $1,000–$3,500. One thousand is $200 under the wider floor. Three thousand five hundred is $2,300 above the wider floor, $1,500 under the typical floor, and the top of this reading. From $1,000–$1,200 the grass sits under the wider spread except at $1,200. From $1,200–$3,500 the grass is inside the wider spread, under the typical band, and inside the turf-only row. One thousand can be this reading at its floor. Three thousand five hundred can be this reading at its top. A polypropylene price does not get the polyethylene row on top.

Nylon, turf only, is $5–$8 a square foot. On that same 500 square feet, the reading is $2,500–$4,000. The whole row sits inside the wider spread and under the typical band. Two thousand five hundred is $1,300 above the wider floor and the floor of this reading. Four thousand is the top of the turf-only row, the top of the 200-square-foot row, and the top of this reading. From $2,500–$4,000 the grass is inside the wider spread and under the typical band. Two thousand five hundred can be this reading at its floor or polypropylene at its top. Four thousand can be this reading at its top or turf only at its top. A polyethylene price does not get the nylon row on top. The nylon row is still the grass. It is not the crew.

Cost of artificial turf

The cost of artificial turf is the labor on one lawn, not a roll with the labor left out. When the job is one standard lawn, that cost is $5,000–$10,000. A price near $1,200 should say a 200-square-foot lawn at the floor of the wider spread, not a 500-square-foot lawn with the labor in. A price near $5,000 should say whether the labor and the base are both in. Five thousand can be this band at its floor. It can also be 500 square feet at $10 or 200 square feet at $25. Those can be the same dollars and the same job, read two ways. They are not two bills.

Labor is often $4–$9 a square foot. On the 500 square feet of a common face, that reading is $2,000–$4,500. Two thousand is $800 above the wider floor and $3,000 under the typical floor. Four thousand five hundred is $500 under the typical floor, $500 past the 200-square-foot top, and the top of this reading. From $2,000–$4,500 the labor is inside the wider spread and under the typical band. It is the labor share of one lawn, not a second lawn. Two thousand can be this reading at its floor or 200 square feet at $10. Four thousand five hundred can be this reading at its top. A standard-lawn price does not get the labor row on top.

Grass removal the same lawn left out is $1–$2.75 a square foot. On 500 square feet, that reading is $500–$1,375. Five hundred is $700 under the wider floor. One thousand three hundred seventy-five is $175 above the wider floor and $3,625 under the typical floor. From $500–$1,200 the removal sits under the wider spread except at $1,200. From $1,200–$1,375 the removal is inside the wider spread and under the typical band. It is an added line, not the standard lawn. Five thousand plus $500 is $5,500, inside the typical band, only when the $5,000 left the removal out. Five thousand plus $1,375 is $6,375, inside the typical band, only when the $5,000 left the removal out. Ten thousand plus $500 is $10,500, which is $500 past the typical top, inside the 750-square-foot row, and $14,500 under the wider top. Ten thousand plus $1,375 is $11,375, which is $1,375 past the typical top, inside the 750-square-foot row, and $13,625 under the wider top. A bid that already names the removal does not get this row on top.

Infill the same lawn left out is $0.30–$1.75 a square foot. On 500 square feet, that reading is $150–$875. One hundred fifty is $1,050 under the wider floor. Eight hundred seventy-five is $325 under the wider floor. From $150–$875 the infill sits under the wider spread. It is an added line, not the standard lawn. Five thousand plus $150 is $5,150, inside the typical band, only when the $5,000 left the infill out. Five thousand plus $875 is $5,875, inside the typical band, only when the $5,000 left the infill out. Ten thousand plus $150 is $10,150, which is $150 past the typical top, inside the 750-square-foot row, and $14,850 under the wider top. Ten thousand plus $875 is $10,875, which is $875 past the typical top, inside the 750-square-foot row, and $14,125 under the wider top. A bid that already names the infill does not get this row on top.

How much does artificial turf cost

How much artificial turf costs is the lawn at one yard. One standard lawn, base and labor in, is $5,000–$10,000. A bid that says how much artificial turf costs and a bid that says artificial turf cost are the same dollars when the yard, the lawn, and the labor match. A price near $1,200 should say a 200-square-foot lawn, not the common lawn. A price near $10,000 should say whether the number is this band at its top, a 1,000-square-foot lawn at $10, or 500 square feet at $20.

A lawn about 200 square feet is typically $1,200–$4,000. One thousand two hundred is the wider floor and the floor of this row. Four thousand is $1,000 under the typical floor. From $1,200–$4,000 the job sits under the typical band and stays inside the wider spread. One thousand two hundred can be this row at its floor. Four thousand can be this row at its top. A standard-lawn price does not get this row on top.

A lawn about 1,000 square feet is typically $10,000–$20,000. Ten thousand is the typical top. Twenty thousand is $10,000 past the typical top and $5,000 under the wider top. From $10,000–$20,000 the job has left the typical band except at $10,000, and it stays inside the wider spread. Ten thousand can be this row at its floor. Twenty thousand can be this row at its top. A 750-square-foot price does not get this row on top.

Ten thousand plus $1,375 for removal the lawn left out is $11,375, which is $1,375 past the typical top, inside the 750-square-foot row, and $13,625 under the wider top. That $11,375 can be a standard lawn at the typical top plus removal at its top, or a 750-square-foot lawn inside its row. Ask which reading the bid is.

Artificial turf cost per square foot

Artificial turf cost per square foot is the face an installer lays, not a roll on a receipt. One standard lawn, base and labor in, is $5,000–$10,000. A bid that says artificial turf cost per square foot and a bid that says artificial turf cost are the same dollars when the yard, the lawn, and the labor match. A price near $6 a square foot should say the low all-in foot, not the typical floor. A price near $25,000 should say whether the number is a lawn about 1,000 square feet at the top of the wider spread.

An installed foot is $10–$20. The overlap with the typical lump sum is the whole standard lawn, because 500 of those feet at $10 are the floor and 500 of those feet at $20 are the top. Five hundred times $10 is $5,000. Five hundred times $20 is $10,000. Ten dollars can be this foot at its floor. Twenty dollars can be this foot at its top. A lump sum does not get the foot on top.

A 200-square-foot lawn is $1,200–$4,000. Two hundred times $6 is $1,200, the wider floor. Two hundred times $20 is $4,000, the top of this row. The 200-square-foot lawn sits under the typical band. A 500-square-foot price does not get the 200-square-foot lawn on top.

A lawn about 1,000 square feet at $25 is $25,000. The overlap with the typical band is none. Twenty-five thousand is the wider top, $15,000 past the typical top, and $5,000 past the 1,000-square-foot row at $20. From $25,000 the job is the wider top. It is the job when that premium foot on 1,000 square feet is what the bid priced. Ten thousand plus $25,000 is $35,000, which is $10,000 past the wider top, only when the $10,000 left that lawn out. A bid that already names the 1,000-square-foot lawn at $25 does not get this row on top.

Two standard lawns at the typical top are two jobs. Ten thousand plus $10,000 is $20,000, which is $10,000 past the typical top, the top of the 1,000-square-foot row, and $5,000 under the wider top. That $20,000 is two lawns or a 1,000-square-foot lawn at $20. It is not one 200-square-foot lawn. A number above $25,000 should name a larger lawn, a second lawn, a sod lawn, a landscaping project, or a retaining wall. Ask which reading the bid is.

What the range includes

The typical band assumes one standard lawn. The turf is in. The base is in. The labor is in. The yard is reachable. The lawn is about 500 square feet. The standard-lawn row, $5,000–$10,000, is the band. A 200-square-foot lawn sits under the band. A 750-square-foot lawn is in the band only from $7,500 to $10,000. A 1,000-square-foot lawn meets the band only at $10,000. Turf only on 500 square feet sits under the band. Nylon on 500 square feet sits under the band. Labor on 500 square feet sits under the band. A sod lawn, a landscaping project, and a retaining wall are not in the band.

How long the work takes depends on the lawn, and the bid’s schedule is the one that counts. A lawn of one standard face is often a day or two. The time is a way to read that lawn. It is not a second clock on a price that was already the face. The next season’s rinse is not in this price.

The floor of the wider spread, $1,200, is a 200-square-foot lawn at $6 a square foot. It is not a standard lawn someone discounted. The top, $25,000, is a lawn about 1,000 square feet at $25 a square foot. It is not the standard-lawn row plus every add-on. Ten thousand plus $1,375 for removal is $11,375, not $25,000. Ten thousand plus $10,000 for a second lawn at the typical top is $20,000, not $25,000. Two times $10,000 is $20,000, which is $5,000 under the wider top. A number above $25,000 should name a larger lawn, a second lawn, or a job past this page. Ask which one.

None of the bands include removal on a lawn the bid already priced, except where that removal is a line the lawn left out. The removal line, on 500 square feet, is $500–$1,375. Five hundred is $700 under the wider floor. A completed lawn price does not get this row. Ten thousand plus $1,375 is $11,375 only when the $10,000 left the removal out.

None of the bands include infill on a price the bid already built, except where that infill is a line the new lawn left out. The infill line, on 500 square feet, is $150–$875. One hundred fifty is $1,050 under the wider floor. Five thousand plus $150 is $5,150, inside the typical band, only when the $5,000 left the infill out. Ten thousand plus $875 is $10,875, which is $875 past the typical top and $14,125 under the wider top. A lawn that already names the infill does not get $150–$875 on top.

None of the bands include a roll the new-lawn price left out, except as its own row. Turf only on 500 square feet is $1,000–$4,000. One thousand is $200 under the wider floor. Four thousand is $1,000 under the typical floor. A new lawn does not get the turf-only row. A roll that already is the job does not get $5,000–$10,000 on top.

None of the bands include a sod lawn, which is the sod guide, often $1,000–$3,000 for one lawn of about 1,000 to 1,500 square feet, inside a wider spread of about $500–$17,400. One thousand is $200 under this page’s wider floor. Three thousand is $1,800 above this page’s wider floor and $2,000 under this page’s typical floor. From $1,000–$1,200 that lawn sits under this page’s wider spread except at $1,200. From $1,200–$3,000 that lawn is inside this page’s wider spread and under this page’s typical band. It can be that sod lawn. It is not a 500-square-foot turf lawn inside this page. Five thousand plus $1,000 is $6,000, inside this page’s typical band. Five thousand plus $3,000 is $8,000, inside this page’s typical band. Ten thousand plus $1,000 is $11,000, which is $1,000 past this page’s typical top, inside the 750-square-foot row, and $14,000 under this page’s wider top. Ten thousand plus $3,000 is $13,000, which is $3,000 past this page’s typical top, inside the 750-square-foot row, and $12,000 under this page’s wider top. That sum is a turf lawn plus a sod lawn only when each bid left the other out. A sod price that already includes the face does not get this page on top.

None of the bands include a landscaping project, which is the landscaping guide, often $1,200–$6,000 for one basic yard, inside a wider spread of about $300–$24,000. One thousand two hundred is the floor of that typical band and the floor of this page’s wider spread. Six thousand is inside this page’s typical band, $1,000 above this page’s typical floor, and $4,000 under this page’s typical top. It can be that yard inside its row or a turf lawn inside this page. Ask which. Five thousand plus $1,200 is $6,200, inside this page’s typical band. Five thousand plus $6,000 is $11,000, which is $1,000 past this page’s typical top, inside the 750-square-foot row, and $14,000 under this page’s wider top. Ten thousand plus $1,200 is $11,200, which is $1,200 past this page’s typical top, inside the 750-square-foot row, and $13,800 under this page’s wider top. Ten thousand plus $6,000 is $16,000, which is $6,000 past this page’s typical top, inside the 1,000-square-foot row, and $9,000 under this page’s wider top. That sum is a turf lawn plus a landscaping project only when each bid left the other out. A yard price that already includes the lawn does not get this page on top.

None of the bands include a retaining wall, which is the retaining wall guide, often $3,500–$6,500 for one wall about 25 feet long and about 4 feet tall, inside a wider spread of about $700–$19,500. Three thousand five hundred is $2,300 above this page’s wider floor and $1,500 under this page’s typical floor. Six thousand five hundred is inside this page’s typical band, $1,500 above this page’s typical floor, and $3,500 under this page’s typical top. It can be that wall at its top or a turf lawn inside this page. Ask which. Five thousand plus $3,500 is $8,500, inside this page’s typical band. Five thousand plus $6,500 is $11,500, which is $1,500 past this page’s typical top, inside the 750-square-foot row, and $13,500 under this page’s wider top. Ten thousand plus $3,500 is $13,500, which is $3,500 past this page’s typical top, inside the 750-square-foot row, and $11,500 under this page’s wider top. Ten thousand plus $6,500 is $16,500, which is $6,500 past this page’s typical top, inside the 1,000-square-foot row, and $8,500 under this page’s wider top. That sum is a turf lawn plus a retaining wall only when each bid left the other out. A wall price that already includes the lawn does not get this page on top.

The band is the lawn price. A coupon on the lawn is not subtracted. Read the form before you take a number off the bid. A credit you have not received is not inside the planning range. This page does not price a coupon, and it does not name a percentage of the cost that comes back at resale.

Warranties are part of the contract, and this page is not a reading of one company’s form. A lawn, when the company offers a return for a seam the crew missed, is about that seam. Read it. The return visit is not a dollar line in the planning range.

A standard homeowners policy is built around sudden and accidental damage. A lawn you left is the kind of maintenance those policies commonly leave with the owner. A storm that damages a covered structure, when the form responds to it, is a different question from a lawn you are buying. Read the form before you treat the policy as the budget. The $5,000–$10,000 band is not an insurance estimate.

A permit the city requires is a line on that bid. This page does not price a city’s fee on top of a complete lawn price. A like-for-like lawn on an existing yard is not a permitted building in the ordinary case. A lawn that already names a fee does not get that fee on top.

As a cross-check, not a bid: one standard lawn, base and labor in, is $5,000–$10,000, the typical band. A 200-square-foot lawn is $1,200–$4,000. A 750-square-foot lawn is $7,500–$15,000. A 1,000-square-foot lawn is $10,000–$20,000. Removal the lawn left out, on 500 square feet, is $500–$1,375. If a bid and that reading are far apart, the bid is a different lawn, a left-out removal, a second lawn, a sod lawn, a landscaping project, or a retaining wall.

What moves the price

DriverHow it changes the bid
The lawnOne standard lawn, base and labor in, is $5,000–$10,000, the typical band. A 200-square-foot lawn is $1,200–$4,000, and the typical band does not include that row. A 750-square-foot lawn is $7,500–$15,000, and the typical band includes that row only from $7,500 to $10,000. A 1,000-square-foot lawn is $10,000–$20,000, and the typical band includes that row only at $10,000. The lawn picks the row. It is not a second bill.
The footA rate of $10–$20 a square foot is a reading of the same lawn. Five hundred square feet at $10 is $5,000. Five hundred square feet at $20 is $10,000. A low all-in foot of $6 is 200 square feet at $1,200. A premium foot of $25 is 1,000 square feet at $25,000. The foot is not a second bill.
The grassTurf only on 500 square feet is $1,000–$4,000, and it sits under the typical band. Polypropylene on that face is $1,000–$2,500. Polyethylene on that face is $1,000–$3,500. Nylon on that face is $2,500–$4,000, and it sits under the typical band. A standard-lawn price does not get the nylon row.
The laborLabor of $4–$9 a square foot is $2,000–$4,500 on 500 square feet, under the typical band. Two thousand is $800 above the wider floor. The labor is not a second bill.
The removalRemoval the bid leaves out, on 500 square feet, is $500–$1,375. Five hundred is $700 under the wider floor. A completed price of $5,000–$10,000 already holds a removal the bid named. Ten thousand plus $1,375 is $11,375 only when the $10,000 left the removal out.
The infillInfill the bid leaves out, on 500 square feet, is $150–$875. One hundred fifty is $1,050 under the wider floor. A completed price of $5,000–$10,000 already holds an infill the bid named. Ten thousand plus $875 is $10,875 only when the $10,000 left the infill out.
The second lawnTwo lawns at the typical top are $20,000, which is $5,000 under the wider top. That reading is two lawns. It is not one 200-square-foot lawn.
The other jobA sod lawn is $1,000–$3,000 on the sod guide. A basic landscaping project is $1,200–$6,000 on the landscaping guide. A retaining wall about 25 feet by 4 feet is $3,500–$6,500 on the retaining wall guide. A face the bid is sodding, a yard the bid is planting, or a wall the bid is stacking does not get this page on top when that price already includes the lawn.

The lawn is the first cut, and it is not a rate you add to itself. A standard lawn at $5,000, 500 square feet at $10, and 200 square feet at $25 can share those dollars. They are not the same lawn three times. Five thousand is the typical floor, 500 square feet at the typical rate floor, and a small lawn at the premium foot. Ask which lawn is in the price.

The size is the second cut. A standard lawn at $10,000, a 1,000-square-foot lawn at $10, and 500 square feet at $20 can share those dollars. One is the typical top. One is the 1,000-square-foot row at its floor. One is the installed foot at its top. The higher number is not a typical lawn that someone misread as a second face.

The same standard lawn in a lower-cost area and in a high-labor city can sit at opposite ends of $5,000–$10,000 without either bid being wrong. Ask whether the price is the lawn, the foot, or both, and ask whether removal, infill, or a second lawn is in. Sod, landscaping, and retaining wall cost are the projects that meet this lawn and are not the lawn. Price them on their own pages. Two bids that disagree about the lawn, the foot, and whether the base is included are not the same job.

DIY or hire

Hire the lawn. A base that has to drain, a seam that has to disappear, and a face that wrinkles when the infill is light are where a small miss becomes a second lawn. The labor, the base, and the turf are the job. A Saturday with a utility knife is where those three get missed.

A rinse the owner can do is a different product. That number is not on this page, and it is not the crew’s lawn. On the one pro lawn, one standard artificial turf lawn is $5,000–$10,000. That is the labor for the face.

A roll on the drive is also a different product. That number is the grass, $2–$8 a square foot, not a crew at the yard. Do not treat the roll as the lawn. If the base, the removal, and the laying still have to be done, you are pricing a crew’s job without the crew. The person at the yard should say what happens if a seam fails. Rinsing a finished lawn is the owner’s part. A receipt for a roll is not this installed rate.

Repair or replace

Repair the face when the base is sound and the house is staying. A small repair is $2–$10 a square foot. On about 200 square feet, that reading is $400–$2,000. Four hundred is $800 under the wider floor. Two thousand is $800 above the wider floor, $3,000 under the typical floor, and 200 square feet at $10. From $400–$1,200 the repair sits under the wider spread except at $1,200. From $1,200–$2,000 the repair is inside the wider spread and under the typical band. That repair replaces the new lawn. It is not the typical band with a different name. A quote near $1,200 should say a 200-square-foot lawn at $6, or a repair inside this row, not a 500-square-foot lawn. A quote near $5,000 should say whether the labor and the base are both in. A quote near $10,000 can be a standard lawn at its top, a 1,000-square-foot lawn at $10, or 500 square feet at $20. Ask which reading the bid is.

Price a 200-square-foot lawn on $1,200–$4,000. Price a 750-square-foot lawn on $7,500–$15,000. Price a 1,000-square-foot lawn on $10,000–$20,000, and do not read that 1,000-square-foot lawn as the standard band with a different name. Do not read a landscaping project as the lawn band with a different name.

Replace the lawn when the face has failed and the yard is staying. That job is the typical band, $10,000 at the top and $5,000 at the floor, when the method is that 500-square-foot lawn. Removal the new lawn left out, on 500 square feet, is $500–$1,375, and it is not already inside a price that named the removal. Send a natural lawn, with the turf already out of the question, to the sod guide, typically $1,000–$3,000. Send a yard of beds and mulch to the landscaping guide, typically $1,200–$6,000. Send a wall that holds the slope to the retaining wall guide, typically $3,500–$6,500. If the same season includes any of those, they are separate scopes. Do not fold them into the lawn price.

How long a new lawn lasts is not a number on this page. A one-yard lawn is not a warranty that the face will stay flat. A new lawn is not a warranty that the yard will never need another face. The bid’s scope is the work you bought.

How to use this number

Ask two or three installers for a written price that names the square feet, the turf, whether the price is a lump sum or a per-square-foot rate, whether the base and the labor are included, whether removal and infill are already inside the price, and what happens if a seam fails. Compare one standard lawn, base and labor in, with $5,000–$10,000. Compare a 200-square-foot lawn with $1,200–$4,000, a 750-square-foot lawn with $7,500–$15,000, a 1,000-square-foot lawn with $10,000–$20,000, and an installed foot with $10–$20. Keep the lawn and the labor inside those rows. Put a left-out removal, on 500 square feet, at $500–$1,375, and a left-out infill, on 500 square feet, at $150–$875, on their own lines.

A very low bid on one lawn is a reason to ask whether the labor is included, not a reason to celebrate. A quote near $1,000 should say turf only on 500 square feet, not a crew on that lawn. A quote near $5,000 should say whether the base is in. A high bid should point at size, a premium foot, a tight access, or the labor market. Two or three local bids on the same lawn, the same foot, and the same base are the number that matters. How this site sets the band is explained on the methodology page.

Common questions

Answers describe national planning ranges, not your house.

What is the artificial turf cost?

A typical planning range for the artificial turf cost is $5,000 to $10,000 for one lawn of about 500 square feet, inside a wider spread of roughly $1,200 to $25,000. That scope is the turf, the base, and the labor in one price. A lawn about 200 square feet is $1,200 to $4,000. A lawn about 750 square feet is $7,500 to $15,000. A lawn about 1,000 square feet is $10,000 to $20,000. An installed rate of $10 to $20 a square foot is a way to read the same lawn. These are typical planning ranges, not quotes.

What are artificial turf prices?

Artificial turf prices, when the yard and the labor match, are the same planning range. One lawn of about 500 square feet, base and labor in, is typically $5,000 to $10,000. Turf only on 500 square feet is $1,000 to $4,000. Polypropylene on that face, turf only, is $1,000 to $2,500. Polyethylene on that face is $1,000 to $3,500. Nylon on that face is $2,500 to $4,000. Five thousand plus $500 for removal the lawn left out is $5,500, inside the typical band. Ten thousand plus $1,375 is $11,375, which is $1,375 past the typical top. These are typical planning ranges, not quotes.

What is the cost of artificial turf?

The cost of artificial turf, when the base and the labor are in the price, is the installed band of $5,000 to $10,000. A bid that says cost of artificial turf and a bid that says artificial turf cost are the same dollars when the yard, the lawn, and the labor match. A lawn about 200 square feet is $1,200 to $4,000. Labor on 500 square feet is $2,000 to $4,500. Five thousand plus $150 for infill the lawn left out is $5,150, inside the typical band. Ten thousand plus $875 is $10,875, which is $875 past the typical top. These are typical planning ranges, not quotes.

How much does artificial turf cost?

Artificial turf costs $5,000 to $10,000 for one lawn of about 500 square feet, base and labor in. A lawn about 200 square feet is $1,200 to $4,000. A lawn about 1,000 square feet is $10,000 to $20,000. A lawn about 1,000 square feet at $25 a square foot is $25,000. Ten thousand can be this band at its top, a 1,000-square-foot lawn at its floor, or 500 square feet at $20. These lawns replace one another. They are not three bills under one lawn. These are typical planning ranges, not quotes.

What is the artificial turf cost per square foot?

Artificial turf cost per square foot, for a lawn at $10 to $20 a square foot, is $5,000 to $10,000 on about 500 square feet. Five hundred square feet at $10 is $5,000, the typical floor. Five hundred square feet at $20 is $10,000, the typical top. A low all-in foot is $6. A premium foot is $25. A lawn about 1,000 square feet at $25 can reach $25,000, the top of the wider spread. That reading replaces the standard lawn. It is not the standard lawn plus the per-foot rate. These are typical planning ranges, not quotes.
